Hilbert–Huang-Transform-Based Seismic Intensity Measures for Rocking Response Assessment
نویسندگان
چکیده
Structures that can uplift and rock under severe seismic excitations present remarkable stability without exhibiting damage. As such, rocking-response-based structural systems constitute a promising design practice. Due to the high nonlinearity of rocking response, performance this class structures should be evaluated probabilistically. From point view, in study, 12 novel HHT-based intensity measures (IMs) describing behavior typical viaducts was assessed based on optimal IM selection criteria. To end, comparative evaluation between proposed 26 well-known conventional IMs presented. Moreover, bivariate were also considered, fragilities provided. Finally, classification response conducted using discriminant analysis, resulting reliable rapid estimation maximum demand. Based results, it is evident result an enhanced examined system.

A probabilistic seismic hazard assessment in terms of Arias intensity is presented for the city of Tehran. Tehran is the capital and the most populated city of Iran. From economical, political and social points of view, Tehran is the most significant city of Iran. Many destructive earthquakes happened in Iran in the last centuries. Historical references indicate that the old city of Rey and the...

متن کاملControlled Rocking Approach for the Seismic Resistance of Structures
An innovative lateral force resisting system is investigated that allows steel braced frames to uplift and rock on their foundation, partially isolating the frame. Passive energy dissipation devices are implemented at the uplifting location to control the rocking response to within allowable limits. The structure’s gravitational forces provide an inherent restoring force during the rocking resp...
متن کاملSynchrosqueezing-based Transform and its Application in Seismic Data Analysis
Seismic waves are non-stationary due to its propagation through the earth. Time-frequency transforms are suitable tools for analyzing non-stationary seismic signals. Spectral decomposition can reveal the non-stationary characteristics which cannot be easily observed in the time or frequency representation alone. Various types of spectral decomposition methods have been introduced by some resear...
متن کاملPrediction of Seismic Damage Using Scalar Intensity Measures Based On Integration of Spectral Values
A key issue in seismic risk analysis within the context of Performance-Based Earthquake Engineering is the evaluation of the expected seismic damage of structures under a specific earthquake ground motion. The assessment of the seismic performance strongly depends on the choice of the seismic Intensity Measure (IM), which quantifies the characteristics of a ground motion that are important to t...
